I heard God say, “A holy hush will settle upon My people.” I had never heard of a holy hush before; so immediately, I started doing research to see if I could discover the meaning.
HOLY HUSH (natural): the calm after a storm, quietness, stillness
HOLY HUSH (spiritual): the peace of God which surpasses all understanding; to be quiet and still; an opportunity to partner with God through a gentle and quiet spirit (prayer).
A holy hush can easily and quickly be identified in the Secret Place.
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty" (Psalms 91:1 NKJV).
What is the Secret Place?
“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you" (Matthew 6:6 NIV).
I truly believe God is asking the body of Christ to remain quiet at this time. It is important to be grieved over the things that grieve God. It is necessary to stand up for the injustices of this world. However, we must also remember James 1:19 - “Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry...” We do not partner with the World by arguing and quarreling with one another.
We are in a season of rapid accelerations, divine interventions, miracles, and promises fulfilled. This is an opportunity to partner with God through prayer and petition, with thanksgiving.
“Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you, and you must be quiet.”
Exodus 14:13-14 (NIV & CSB)
I can imagine a holy hush fell upon the Town of Bethlehem, while all of creation eagerly awaited the birth of a Savior. God does His greatest works in the midst of SILENCE. To be silent before the Lord means to stand in awe and wonder of who he is - it's to REVERENCE God.
In this hour, God is seeking a people who are willing to lay down their lives for the sake of the Kingdom. We must be willing to lay down our own agendas, our pride, bitterness, unforgiveness, etc. in order to ADVANCE the KINGDOM. We lay down our lives by repenting for our sins.
“I will search with lanterns in Jerusalem’s darkest corners to punish those who sit complacent in their sins. They think the Lord will do nothing to them, either good or bad" (Zephaniah 1:12 NLT).
Repentance opens up the windows of Heaven and ushers in God's glory. Then His presence of peace will rest upon our shoulders. It also allows us to get quiet and still before the Lord, so that we may hear His VOICE. This will position us to pray God's perfect will.
“Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God." (Revelation 2:7 NIV).
God is rapidly answering prayers. This is a time to make our request known.
“When the Lamb broke the seventh seal on the scroll, there was silence throughout heaven for about half an hour. I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and they were given seven trumpets. Then another angel with a gold incense burner came and stood at the altar. And a great amount of incense was given to him to mix with the prayers of God’s people as an offering on the gold altar before the throne. The smoke of the incense, mixed with the prayers of God’s holy people, ascended up to God from the altar where the angel had poured them out. Then the angel filled the incense burner with fire from the altar and threw it down upon the earth; and thunder crashed, lightning flashed, and there was a terrible earthquake" (Revelation 8:1-5 NLT).
“Be silent before the Sovereign Lord, for the day of the Lord is near. The Lord has prepared a sacrifice; he has consecrated those he has invited" (Zephaniah 1:7 NIV).
“Be silent before the Lord, all humanity, for he is springing into action from his holy dwelling" (Zechariah 2:13 NLT).
Prayer is our war cry. Do not retreat! Pray more. Speak less.
Allow God's holy hush to usher in the glory realm.
“So wake up, you living gateways! Lift up your heads, you ageless doors of destiny! Welcome the King of Glory, for he is about to come through you. You ask, “Who is this Glory-King?” The Lord, armed and ready for battle, the Mighty One, invincible in every way! So wake up, you living gateways, and rejoice! Fling wide, you ageless doors of destiny! Here he comes; the King of Glory is ready to come in. You ask, “Who is this King of Glory?” He is the Lord of Victory, armed and ready for battle, the Mighty One, the invincible commander of heaven’s hosts! Yes, he is the King of Glory! Pause in his presence” (Psalms 24:7-10 TPT).
